The hidden truth about the Trident
More than 100 years ago, the Trident was first introduced as a state symbol of Ukraine. First, the Ukrainian fleet introduced this symbol back in January 1918, which was regulated by the corresponding "Temporary Law on the Fleet of the Ukrainian People's Republic". This was the first legislative act that legitimized the official use in Ukraine of the Trident and the blue-yellow flag as state symbols, which at that time had not yet been officially approved. And based on this law, on February 2, 1918, the Trident was adopted as the state emblem by the Small Council of the Ukrainian People's Republic. Subsequently, the Trident became the coat of arms of the Ukrainian State under the Hetmanate of P. Skoropadskyi (1918) and the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic (1918-1920), and was kept by the Ukrainian government in exile as a national symbol until the state independence of Ukraine was restored in 1991.
