I Cossack Festival "Pidkova"

 

The first All-Ukrainian Cossack festival "Pidkova" (in honor of Hetman Ivan Pidkova) was held in Kanev in 2019.

Historian Kostyantyn Andrienko informed the public that Kaniv was once considered the capital of the Cossacks.

It is no coincidence that such Otamans and Hetmans as Samiylo Kishka, Yakiv Shah, Ivan Pidkova rest here... It was here, in Kanev, that the first Cossack Sich was formed.

Afterwards, the Cossacks from Zaporizhzhya Sich demonstrated to the audience the weapons of those times, in particular, a spear, a bow, a whip, a club, and, of course, a Cossack saber.

The residents of Kaniv also had the opportunity to see how the Cossack cannon fires.
And for the bravest Cossacks, the Zaporozhian Cossacks arranged demonstration performances, master classes and training duels.
